Willie Clyde Scott

June 16, 1931 — March 19, 2021

Willie Clyde Scott affectionately known as “Scottie” was born in Snowdoun, Alabama on June 16, 1931 to the late Alberta and Robert Scott Sr. Willie began his Christian journey at an early age when he became a member of Jericho AME Zion Church where he served faithfully for many years. He was educated in public schools in Montgomery. Willie joined in holy matrimony with his best friend Rosa Skanes on October 1, 1955. Their union was blessed with four children. Willie and his wife relocated to Massillon, OH in 1956. He retired from Republic Steel after working well over 40 years as a laborer. He was an active member of St. James AME Zion church where he once served on the Steward Board, and was a member of the Men’s Fellowship. Willie loved to watch baseball and football, but most of all he loved cooking, his fried chicken wings and his Barbeque ribs were his specialty. Willie loved his family and worked very hard to assure that they lacked nothing. He was an avid supporter of everyone he loved, and was very active in the raising of his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger and will be remembered by his kind and gentle spirit, and his willingness to assist anyone in need. Willie was a caring and compassionate person who loved doing for others. He had a beautiful heart for people and always kept a smile on his face. Preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Robert Scott Sr., a son, Michael, granddaughter, Amber, his sisters, Velma Johnson and Ruby Mae Williams, and four brothers, Eddie, Robert Jr., Sam and Nathan Scott. He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy of love, his best friend and Mother of his children, Rosa Scott; sons: Willie Calvin and Mitchel Scott; and his only daughter; Ruby Lynne; grandchildren, Jaquay, Justin, Jermaine, Markeys, and Kala; greatgrandchildren, Adrian, Amaiya, Ryley and Tanaysia. Sisters, Shirlene Tymes, and Vanteal (Henderson) Jones and brother, Sylvester (Angenetta) Scott; special sister Mary K. Sims and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved family members and friends. Going Home service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Rev. Le Count Nedab II officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11am prior to the service Saturday. Final resting place will be at Massillon Cemetery. Facebook Live Streaming
