William Richard Waller, 87, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at Aultman Hospital on August 24, 2023. He was born in Massillon on August 18, 1936, to the late William and Mary (Boucher) Waller.
Bill was a 1954 graduate of Massillon Washington High School where he was proud to be the team manager of the football team. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1959 where his primary mission was embassy duty in the Dominican Republic. He was extremely proud to be a Marine. Ooh-rah!
Once he returned state side, Bill worked for Tyson Roller Bearing for 8 years and then was employed with the former McLain Grocery Company, also known as Fleming Foods, where he drove truck and retired after 30 years of service.
Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, JoAnn (Zearley) Waller; his sons Renso (Cynthia) Waller, William “Rich” (Kimaura) Waller, Steven James Waller, and Joseph Daniel Waller; stepchildren Richard Lee (Nancy) Zearley and Linda (Richard) Powell; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as two nieces.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his two sons David Wayne and Christopher Scott Waller, his brother Clarence James Waller and grandson Christopher David Waller.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31st from 12pm-2pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be rendered.
