Walter L. Holman, Sr.

Walter L. "Sonny" Holman, Sr., age 72 of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Meadow Wind Health Care Center. He was born in Massillon on June 27, 1939 and was the son of the late Walter and Edith (Gorius) Holman. Sonny was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a hobbyist and collector of many things. He was a self taught automotive mechanic and enjoyed tinkering. All of his life he was an avid recycler. He was extremely proud of his children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. He will be missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Delores Englehardt, Shirley Moser and Mary Zimmerman. He is survived by his children, Theresa JoAnn (Jim) Hale, Walter L. (Elaine) Holman, Jr. and Angela "Angie" (Bob) Kompara, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his siblings, Barbara Mendez, Theresa (Duane) Pagenkopf, Lawrence "Butch" (Jaque) Holman and Sandy (Stan) Kovac. A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made in his name to the resident fund at Meadow Wind Health Care Center.
