Thomas L. Henning, 67 of Perry Township, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Louis Stokes Veterans Medical Center. He was born in Canton, Ohio on December 12, 1948 and was the son of Millie and the late John Henning. Following high school, Tom served his country with the U.S. Marines. He was awarded the Silver Star, two Purple Heart Medals, the Cross of Gallantry Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree and became an engineer at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, retiring following 35 years of service. On August 29, 1970, he married the former Beckie J. Kilper, they raised three children, Michelle Henning Sykes, Amy Henning Cunningham and Tim (Erin) Henning. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Carter and Harper Henning, Sadie and Camree Cunningham and Dacia Sykes, his mother Millie Henning and his sister, Cindy (Dennis) Eggert. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with his pastor and family friend, Kevin Slyh officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
