Stanley John Zak

Stanley John Zak, age 77, of Canton passed away on Wednesday, September 7th surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 13, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Stanley and Martha (Maple) Zak. He married Janet Elaine (Wasson) Zak on July 1st, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio.

Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet, parents Stanley and Martha Zak, and sister Carolyn. He is survived by his sons Robert J. (Melissa) Zak, Santa Monica California; Andrew A. (Morgan) Zak, Loveland, Ohio; and Michael S. (Meredith) Zak, Cornelius, North Carolina; and by his sister Diana (Richard) Zollars, Canton, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ava Connelly, Brennan Zak, Lauren Zak, and Piper Zak.

Stanley graduated from Springfield Local High School 1962 and The Ohio State University in 1966. After serving his country in Vietnam, he worked in the steel industry and in support roles at several local schools, most recently as head groundskeeper at Northwest Local School District in Canal Fulton, Ohio.

Stanley loved working outdoors. He could be found most weekends mowing and maintaining his beautiful three-acre property. He also loved caring for his dogs, playing basketball at the YMCA, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, and attending sporting events for his three boys. At the end of a hard day, he enjoyed nothing more than listening to music with a cold beer in hand.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 10 a.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon, Ohio 44646. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
