Shirley Marie Hamlet

Shirley Marie Hamlet passed away June 3, 2016. She was born in Guilford County, North Carolina on July 18, 1948 to Christine Milton and Willie Lee Mitchell. Later her mother married and step-father Daniel Florence played a major role in raising Shirley. Shirley was very gifted with many talents. Anyone who has ever heard her sing and play knows the anointing she had. She could bring tears to your eyes. She would play and sing so effortlessly as an anointed child of God. Although she experienced many struggles, she never forgot how God would carry her through the storm. She was truly a faithful servant. She worked many years as a Nurse's Aide caring for others. She took the role as a caregiver with no complaints and cared for her family as well. She later achieved her Bachelor's in Christian Theology while attending Word of Liberty Church in Massillon, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father Willie Lee Mitchell, step-father Daniel Florence, mother Christine Milton Florence and sister Mable Florence. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, daughters Deidra (Lamar) Sharpe, Sharon M. Hamlet, Angela (Melvin) Johnson and sons Martie, Robert (Reta), Bobby and Carl Ray Hamlet, Jr.; brothers and sisters Marandia (Gary) Young, Jerome (Tamera) Florence, John (Celeste) Florence, Melvin, Harry and Cornelius Florence. She loved them all deeply. Homegoing service will be Wednesday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00.
