Sandy Barker, 79, of Alliance, passed away on January 8, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Caldwell, Ohio on September 12, 1940 to the late Howard and Ruth (Boothby) Haines. Sandy married her beloved husband,Harold “Bud” Barker on July 2,1960 and shared 59 wonderful years together. In her earlier years, Sandy worked for Crane Plumbing and Transue & Williams. She finished her work career with Robertson Heating and Cooling where she retired from as an accountant. She had a strong commitment to her community but especially to her church, Bolton United Methodist, where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. Her involvement included many committees, secretary, volunteer for the food pantry, monthly church dinners, the education fund and organized many donations to the local domestic violence shelter. In addition to her dedication to the church, Sandy was also an avid Mount Union Purple Raider fan. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother and a friend to all that knew her. She was the matriarch of her family and loved them unconditionally. This love could be seen through her happiness when she was with them. Her endless support for her children and their spouses overflowed to her grandchildren and she was extremely proud of all of them. Sandy will always be remembered for her unconditional love and support of her family, her genuine compassion and heart of gold, and her many acts of kindness towards others. To know her was a blessing. She is survived by her loving husband, Bud; children Mark (Lisa) Barker, Michele (Tom) Rankin and Matt (Rachel) Barker; grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Devon (Andrea) , Alex, Holly, Colin, Julia, Brooklyn, Greyson, Isaiah, Maryah and another coming soon; her sister Shirley Bacon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 4-6pm at Vine Street United Methodist Church in Alliance. A celebration of Sandy’s life will follow at 6pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sandy’s honor to help the fight against breast cancer, to Susan G. Komen, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 526, Dallas, Texas 75244.
