Ruthella Gertz

Ruthella Gertz, 96, of Navarre, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Ruthella was born on February 27, 1925, in Woodsfield, Ohio, the daughter of James Henry & Ellen Charlotte (Dye) Ward. She was employed at a few places in her life; Graef Ford, Country Lawn Nursing Home, as a cook for the Fairless School District and at Timken Steel during WWII. Ruthella’s family was everything to her. She treated everyone as though they were family. She loved her flower garden and was a true botanist, she could tell you the name of every flower and weed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Gertz, brothers, Ellison, Ervine, Edith, Evelyn, John, and Robert Ward, and her sister, Audrey Ward. She is survived by her children; James Wilfred (Sharon) Gertz, Judith Diane (David) Walsh, and Joyce Kay (Robert Renicker) Wade; grandchildren, Heather (Chuck) Fink, Christopher (Krisi) Gertz, Matthew (Jamie) Wade, Lacey (Craig) Kintz, Jason (Jamie) Walsh, and Erin (Kevin) Bille; great-grandchildren, Chelsey (Matt) Feller, Colton, Mia, Paige, Bodie, Grant, Camden, Easton, Jack, Mason, and Ireland; great-great-granddaughter, Olive; brother, Bill Ward; and sister, Laura Mallernee. A Celebration of Ruthella’s life will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. before the service.
