Ruth E. Harig

Ruth E. Harig, age 84 of Massillon, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2010. She was born on January 2, 1926 in Navarre the daughter of the late Clyde and Florence (Wilson) Whitmer. Ruth was a home maker and a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Ruth enjoyed shopping, reading and loved making crafts. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Harig, Jr. with whom she shared 64 years of marriage; her daughter, Sharon K. Schmidt and her grandson, Jerry Lee Henkel She is survived by her children and their spouses, Terry L. (Linda) Harig of Harlem, GA, Kathleen S. (Ralph) Moore and Vicki L. (Mark) Weinsheimer both of Massillon; son-in-law, Frank J. Schmidt of Lakeland, FL; 24 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren; her special friends, Betty and Annie and her 6 beloved dogs. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Massillon Baptist Temple. Her grandsons’, Pastors’ James Dittmar and Dan Alexoff will be officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service on Friday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family to help cover expenses.
