Robert E. Mizer

Robert E. Mizer, age 89 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday August 12, 2008 at Amherst Meadows. He was born on June 14, 1919 in Dover to the late Alvin & Susan (Wendling) Mizer and moved to Massillon in the early 40’s. Bob graduated from Dover High School and attended Canton Business College. He retired from the general office of Republic Steel Corporation in 1978 after 38 year of service. He was manager of Customer Service for the Hot Roll Bar Division. Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served as an usher, councilman and gardner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille “Boots” Mizer on August 5, 1988. He is survived by daughters & sons-in-law, Sherry & Richard Hardgrove of Jackson Twp., Betsy & Rick Houchen of Columbus; grandchildren, Eric & Megan Hardgrove, Holly & Louis Susi, and Lindsey & Todd Kegler; and great grandchildren, Avery, Bryce, Luke, Lila, Ty, Drew and Owen. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Oster officiating. Internment will be in Dover Burial Park. Friends may call from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials can be sent to the Living Flower Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
