Richard E. Buxser, age 86 of Canton, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at Affinity Hospital. Richard was born on May 23, 1925 in Justus, Ohio the son of the late Earl and Verbal (Hood) Buxser. Richard lived in the area most of his life and was a 1943 graduate of Beach City High School. He was a WWII United States Navy veteran. Richard worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years, after retiring from the post office he worked for Meldrum's restaurant for over 20 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Murris. He is survived by his wife, Gloria H. (Amos) Buxser with whom he married on August 11, 1946; his children, Michael J. (Carol) Buxser of Charleston, WV, Steven E. (Nancy) Buxser of Indianapolis, IN, Patti (Margie Steinberg) Buxser of Provincetown, MA; his grandchildren, Michelle (Lew) Mustian, Bryan (Abby) Buxser, Nathan, and Aaron; his great-grandchildren, Montgomery, Brandon, and Zachary; his sisters, Evelyn Cregar of Auburn, AL and Mary Jean Buxser of Massillon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Massillon. Rev. Nancy Bacon and Rev. Dennis Engler will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call at Christ Lutheran Church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
