Raymond "Ray" J. Isla

Raymond "Ray" J. Isla, passed away on June 16, 2016. He was born in Canton on June 15, 1944 to the late Ramon and Nativa (Balcarcel) Isla. He was a graduate of Timken High School, where he played Football. He married Nancy on July 22, 1983 and they shared 32 years together until his passing. Ray worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 29 years until his retirement. After retirement Ray drove a bus part-time for Jackson Local Schools. He was an avid Golfer. Ray refereed Football and Basketball for over 20 years and was a past President of the Eastern Ohio Football Officials Association, and was active in the Jackson Football Sideliners and Baseball Diamond Club. Ray enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events. He is survived by his wife Nancy; his children Raymond S. Isla, Christine Boltres, Melissa (Colton) Wallenhurst, David (Amy) Isla and William (Jennifer) Simon; his grandchildren Emily Isla, Alexis Isla, Michael Paumier, Jordan and Cody Wallenhurst, Austin Rundquist, Eddie Rayner, Camryn Isla, Will and Owen Simon; his brother Robert (Mary) Isla and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Olga Rosati A Celebration of his life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-12 noon.
