Raymond H. Palmer, 88, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Reedurban, Ohio on February 4, 1932 to the late Harry and Thelma (Reed) Palmer. Ray was a 1950 graduate of Timken High School where he graduated Salutatorian. He worked at Akron Standard as a mechanical engineer for many years before pursuing his ministry work for the Lord. Ray was not only an ordained minister and member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, but he was the founder of Happiness Hill Girl’s Home in Mississippi which focused on helping troubled teens. He also helped found Heritage Christian School in Canton. Ray devoted much of his time serving the Lord, promoting faith, and teaching and mentoring those he encountered. In addition to his commitment to his faith, Ray and his wife Kaye were foster parents to over 100 children, always accepting them for who they were and showing them much love and support as if they were their own. In his earlier years, he proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Ray worked primarily as a flight engineer for the B25’s. Later in life, he had the pleasure of attending an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and was escorted by his grandson Ryan Robinson. In addition to the Honor Flight, Ray was also gifted a special trip to MAPS Air Museum where he took flight, one last time in a B25. He was also able to fulfill his longtime dream of visiting New York City which he did with Ryan as well. Ray was a dedicated family man. He adored his wife of 64 years, Kaye Bush and was blessed with 4 beautiful daughters who were wrapped around his finger. He was also proud to be Pop-Pop to 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren that were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife Kaye; daughters Brenda (Mike) Hoffman and Joyce (Quentin) Robinson; grandchildren Stacy (Broc) Gott, Stephanie Hoffman, Ryan (Katherine) Hoffman, Ryan Robinson and Brandon (Kaelynn) Robinson; great-grandchildren Landon, Carson, Beckett, Spencer, Teddy and Nora Kaye. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his loving daughters Cheryl and Pamela Palmer and his brother Ralph Palmer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 15th from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3955 Wales Ave. NW, Massillon, Ohio 44646. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church with calling hours beginning at 10 a.m. Military honors will be held at his final resting place of Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stillwater Christian Boys Academy, 11901 Rd 505, Union, MS, 39365, which is the former Happiness Hill.
