Phyllis L. Hoffman, age 90 of Jackson Township, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Phyllis was born in Clarksburg, WV on June 16, 1922 the daughter of Lawrence and Flora (Lamm) Gatrell. Phyllis enjoyed reading, playing cards and watching her beloved Cleveland Indians. She had a close friendship with her walking and coffee group. Phyllis was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Edwin Hoffman, her grandson Jeffrey Barlow, her son-in-law Robert Chilson, and her brothers Carl, Gerald, and Richard Gatrell. She is survived by her children, Paula (Tom) Hoch, Karen (George) Barlow, and Curtis Hoffman; her sisters, Lorena White and Marilyn Drobney and her brothers, Leslie (Sonya) Gatrell and Tim (Linda) Gatrell; her grandchildren, David Chilson, George and Michael Barlow, Melissa, Nicholas, Johanna and Marcus Hoffman; her great-grandchildren, Landon, Kylee, and AJ Hoffman; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Emeritus at Canton and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Fr. Edward Gretchko will be Officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stark Co.
