Pericles "Perry" Stergios

Pericles "Perry" Stergios, age 55 of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia, Ohio after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 19, 1961 in Canton to Paul and Miletsa (Miric) Stergios. Perry graduated from Washington High School in 1979, and earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in 1983; he then went on to earn his law degree at Ohio Northern University graduating in 1987. Perry has been the Massillon City Law Director since 2003 and had a private law practice in Massillon. He has always been active in the community serving on numerous community boards and was involved in many organizations and had also previously served as the president of the Stark County Bar Association. Perry loved life and made the most out of every moment. Perry was well liked and well respected in every arena he traveled – as an attorney, as a concert lover, as a golfer, Ohio State fan, a co-worker and he was loved by his family and many, many friends. Perry's passions were most apparent as a musician and avid snow skier; he worked hard and played hard and lived life to the fullest. In September, he attended a Bruce Springsteen concert, took a short family trip to Florida and he worked up until the final week of his life. He was an amazing man. He is survived by his wife, Vanessa (Baxter) Stergios, daughter, Alexandra Stergios, son, Kristos Stergios, parents, Paul and Miletsa Stergios, uncle and aunt, J. Fred and Susann Stergios and his in-laws, Gary and June Baxter, special brother in law, Shane (Chi Chi) Baxter, God daughter Tatianna Johnson, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and a community full of close friends. He will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Oct. 11 from 3-7 p.m. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Stergios Family Fund" established at Chase Bank in Massillon.
