Oscar T. Daugherty

Oscar T. “Blue” Daugherty, age 97 died on Saturday, November 4, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born on September 18, 1920 in Fairview, TN to Henry O. and Dillie B (Stinson) Daugherty. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother Lena (Lampley) Daugherty. 7 brothers, 4 half-brothers, 2 sisters and 2 half sisters, his son Lee T. Daugherty and 2 grandsons, Bobby Daugherty and Michael Hodgson. Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 77 years, Mary Opal (Lampley) Daugherty, his daughter, Reba (Bill) Hodgson, grandchildren, Steve Hodgson and his children Anna and Brandt, Cathy (Tim) Johnson and their children, Tyler, Brooke and Drew, Gary “Trev” Hodgson and his daughter Alyssa, Becky (Daugherty) Decker and her son Jake and his granddaughter-in-law, Kim Hodgson and her daughter Jessica. Also surviving are 1 sister, 2 half sisters and 2 half brothers. Oscar enjoyed music, singing and playing guitars at various nursing homes throughout the years. He and his wife enjoyed many winters in Clearwater Beach, FL. He worked at the former Griscom-Russell and then retired from General Motors, Terex Division in Hudson, OH. He was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church in Green. The funeral will take place on Friday, November 10th at 1:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church, 1212 Greensburg Road, Green, OH 44685. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 am - 1 pm. Burial will follow at Newmans Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at Temple Baptist Church: 1212 Greensburg Rd. P.O. Box 181, Green, OH 44232-0181.
