Melissa "Missie" R. Hughes

Melissa “Missie” R. Hughes, 45, of Canton, passed away on December 21, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born on June 26, 1976 in Akron, Ohio to Thomas and Deborah (Porter) Hughes. Missie was a 1996 graduate of Jackson High School as well as a graduate of Stark State College where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development. She began her career as a pre-school teacher and was currently working at For A Child. The kids absolutely adored her and her special heart made her an excellent role model for them. Missie had a positive impact on not only the kid’s lives, but also everyone she had met. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Missie is survived by her parents, Tom & Debbie Hughes; her brother Matthew Hughes; her life partner Joe Gruca; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church 5155 Eastlake St NW North Canton, OH 44720 on January 15, 2022 at 11:00 am. And will also be livestreamed by clicking here .
