Mrs. Margaret Schandel Shanklin, 90, died June 12, 2006, due to complications of a lengthy illness. Born June 14, 1915, Mrs. Shanklin, one of three daughters of the late Joseph M. and Edna Hoke Schandel, lived all of her life in the Massillon area. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, William Eberhardt Shanklin. Mrs. Shanklin was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Massillon, a charter member of the Christian Mothers Altar Rosary Confraternity, as well as a life member of the “Hill Gang.” A woman of strength and deep, unwavering faith, Margaret devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Mrs. Shanklin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Terry and Aldona Shanklin of San Diego, California; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Dr. Daniel McDonnell of Bolivar, Ohio; her daughter and son-in-law, Mimi and Michael Carbone of Charlotte, North Carolina; her six grandchildren, Kathleen, Maureen, Keri and Daniel McDonnell and Michael and Chase Carbone; and her two great-grandchildren, Keara and Mollie McDonnell. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 P.M. Friday, at the Massillon Paquelet Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, June 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Reverend Raymond Paul and the Reverend Edward Keck of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Zoar officiating.
