Margaret E. Tombow, 76 of North Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her home with her family at her side. She was born in Weirton, WV on October 6, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Gallagher) McElwain. Margaret graduated from Catholic Central High School in Steubenville, Ohio, she then went on to earn her degree in nursing at Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Zanesville, Ohio. She worked as a registered nurse at Massillon Community Hospital and retired from the former Massillon State Hospital. She was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church where she served as an instructor for the R.C.I.A. program and also served as a volunteer for Faith in Action. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters. She is survived by her husband, George Tombow, whom she married on December 2, 1961, her daughter, Kelly (Kenneth) Steiner, her sons, Patrick (Joleen) Tombow and John Tombow, her grandchildren, Lindsey and Ashley Steiner and Alex, Blake and Reid Tombow, four sisters and one brother. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Barbara's Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Cline officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave., SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
