Keith L. Ayers, Sr., age 78 of Massillon, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on September 24, 1930 in Sugar Creek, Ohio and was the son of the late Roland R. & Gladys (Bobo) Ayers. Keith was a veteran of the Korean conflict while serving with the U.S. Army as a Sgt 1st Class Anti-Aircraft Artillery Chief. He retired from the former Republic Steel in 1974. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose #481 and the American Legion Post 221. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy, Emmett, Ray, Willard and Max Ayers and his sister Margaret Weaver. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Byerly) Ayers whom he married on February 28, 1953, his children and their spouses, Keith L. (Kim) Ayers, Jr. of Canton, Cynthia G. (Randy) Schall of Massillon, Wayne L. (Jean) Ayers of Navarre and Louise Ann (Gary) Diuk of Massillon, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his brothers, Von Ayers of Dover, OH and Zane Ayers of Strasburg, OH and his sister, Janet Landis of Dover, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Brigham and Rev. Russell Rodojev officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (TONIGHT) from 5-8 P.M. and on Friday one hour before the service.
