Joseph G. Gottler, Jr., 72, born July 27, 1942, in Massillon, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He had been ill over seven years. His wife was his care giver and he was with Aultman Hospice for six months. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph G. Gottler, Sr., and his mother, Julia (Savage) Gottler. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank C. Gottler, Thomas H. Gottler, and a sister, Maryan Peterime. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 30 years, Darlene (Gray) Gottler, a sister, Anna Graber (Scott) of Massillon, his daughter, Denise Anne Ferrell (Randy), his precious grandchildren Andrew Scott Ferrell of Canton and Morgan Leighanne Ferrell of Kent. He is also survived by a son, Michael J. Gottler, a grandson, Michael Gottler, and step-daughters Charity and Natalie all of Panama City Beach, Florida, a great granddaughter and nephews Daniel (Carol) and David (his friend Karen) Petrime and a niece Sharon (Michael) Faiello, nephews, Benjamin and Nicholas Graber; his brothers-in-law Chuck (Diane) Gray and Richard (Kathy) Monasterio; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Al) VanDyne and Hazel Mattern and faithful dog, Lucy. Joe was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1960. Joe retired in 1992 after 30 years from Fleming Foods; he was a union steward for Local 92. He was an avid fisherman spending time at Rice Lake in Ontario, Canada. He was also a golfer, participating in many leagues and he was an avid bowler, having three games of 300, one of 299 and one of 298. He served as Trustee and Treasurer and Vice-President of the Massillon Bowling Association. In lieu of flowers it was Joe's wish that donations be made to Aultman Hospice. Thanks and appreciation go out to Heather Hall, Margaret Robinson, Marie Anderson, Dr. Grossman, Vickie Robinson, Sandy Braddock and the rest of the staff who gave so lovingly of their time to give comfort and care to both Joe and Darlene. The funeral will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00pm with visiting one hour before the service with Pastor Will Stuart, from Richville United Church of Christ officiating. His final resting place will be in the Richville Cemetery.
