John Von Gunten

John Von Gunten, 72, passed away on August 2, 2021, following an extended illness. He was born in Canton on April 29, 1949 to the late Lee and Irene (Pyle) Von Gunten. A 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, John was the owner of JONCI Construction. He was known for the quality of his craftsmanship and his sense of humor. He would go out of his way to help people. John was dedicated to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia (Hochstetler) Von Gunten, whom he married on September 7, 2001; children, Lisa (Mike) Biedenbach, Mindy (Mark) Lyons, Megan (Tim) Cooper, Christine Belt, Jennifer Belt, Felicia (Brandon) Castaneda, Kayla (Codey Wagner) Castaneda and Travis (Breanna) Hochstetler; nine grandchildren; and siblings, Richard (Roberta) Von Gunten and Debra (Daniel) Craig. The family will gather at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 5pm-7pm with a Celebration of John’s Life to be held at 7pm, Pastor John Stallings presiding.
