James Paul Suttle, Sr. age 73 of Jackson Twp. passed away Saturday at his residence. He was born August 2, 1931 in Massillon to the late Norman Kurtz and Lulu Mabel (Giltz) Suttle. Jim retired from First Energy after 45 years of employment in Massillon, Mansfield and finally Akron. Jim most recently served as Director of Metering Practices. A 1949 graduate of Washington High School, he married his high school sweetheart Janie Farrow(nee Mary Martha Norman). Jim attended the University of Akron. He enjoyed computers, cars, mathematics, and science. He was active with St. John’s United Church of Christ Consistory in Massillon. He served two years in the Army during the Marshall Plan’s reconstruction of France. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Norman (Mary Jane) Suttle of Canton and Maurice ‘Buzz’ Suttle of Massillon. He is survived by wife Jennie L. Suttle with whom he would have shared 53 years of marriage on June 24th; son James Paul (Penny) Suttle Jr. of Strasburg, daughter Cathy (Leonard) Kichler of Solon, granddaughters: Rachel, Diana, Emily, and Laura Jane, eight nieces and nephews, and ten great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon; Pastor Johanna Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Garden. Friends may call 6-8 PM Tuesday and from 10 AM until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the people associated with Hospice of Stark County for all of their help. In lieu flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Hospice of Stark County, or the American Liver Foundation.
