James P. Rooney

James P. Rooney age 60 of Massillon passed away Saturday September 1, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Jim will be remembered as a loving husband and a devoted father. He was born May 1, 1947 in Saranac Lake, NY to William & Genevieve (O’Brien) Rooney. Jim was employed in the dietary purchasing department at Doctors Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the K of C #554 and Bishop Massillon Assembly 4th Degree. Jim liked to fish in the summer, hunt in the fall, and to read in his spare time. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Alice (Berens) Rooney of the residence. Three children and a daughter in law: Duane & April Powers of Massillon, Phillip Powers of East Sparta, and Todd Powers of Cuyahoga Falls; his father and step mother, William & Anne Rooney of Jay, NY; four grandchildren; Chanceler, Phillip, Tony and Rachell; and two step-sisters, Kathy and Theresa of New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, his pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to the family to help with expenses.
