James R. Solinger, 79, of Massillon, passed away on September 15, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on July 30, 1942 in Bolivar, Ohio to the late Thomas and Catherine (Zorger) Solinger. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1962 during the Vietnam War Era. He had a very strong work ethic and always made sure his family was supported and taken care of. Jim retired from Timken after 33 1/3rd years of service and continued to work up until recently, whether he was cutting down trees or scraping metal. Jim was a dedicated Massillon Tiger fan where he held season tickets for many years. He was also a longtime member of Massillon Baptist Temple. Jim will be deeply missed by his son, Thomas Solinger and his beloved grandchildren Meaghan, McKenzie and Alexander James. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gary, Thomas, Robert, Gene, David and Ted Solinger and his sister Carol Henry. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27th at Massillon Baptist Temple from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. and burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery where military rites will be performed.
