James D. Hewitt

James D. (J.D.) Hewitt, age 67 of Navarre, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 16, 1942 in St. Mary’s, WV and was the son of the late Ira and Dona (Smith) Hewitt. He was an area resident for most of his life. J.D. retired from the former Republic Steel Corporation. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Vera Rohr and Janice Hewitt. He is survived by his wife, Delma V. (Waggoner) Hewitt, whom he married on September 23, 1961, his son, Darrell Hewitt, Sr. of Canton, his grandchildren, Aubrey and Darrell, Jr., his great grandchild, Jordan and his sister, Martha McFarren of Massillon. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Thayer officiating. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday one hour before the service. The family suggests that memorials be made in J.D.’s name to either Mercy Hospice or the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
