Ivan William Paul Steele

Ivan William Paul Steele, 83, of Jackson Township, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Altercare of Navarre. He was born on June 6, 1933 in Navarre, Ohio to John and Mary (Sigmund) Steele. Ivan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He grew up in Navarre, but lived most of his life in Jackson Township after marrying his wife, Georgeanna Gayhart. The two of them shared 41 loving years together before her passing on August 14, 2002. Ivan's career began at Hill Refrigeration and then he later transitioned to Hattenbach Refrigeration where he was the Vice President of Sales for 10 years. He was an avid sportsman and loved being outdoors; some of his favorite hobbies included, trap shooting, fishing and hunting. One of his greatest pleasures was drag racing with his son, Michael. He will be deeply missed by his children, Michael (Cyndi) Steele and April (Alan) Osborne; grandchildren, Haley, Jessie, Joshua, and Gavrielle. In addition to his parents, Ivan was preceded in death by his siblings, Emmet Steele, Glenn Steele, Marie Steele, Evelyn Gosnell, Joyce Sampsel and Marjorie Wentzel. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Darlene Garber officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
