Gregory R. Mcgovern

Gregory R. McGovern, M.D., age 51 formerly of Massillon, passed away suddenly Thursday, November 10, 2011 at his residence in Las Vegas, Nevada. Greg was born on August 24, 1960 in Massillon, to Robert McGovern and the late Judy (Lenhart) McGovern. He graduated from Washington High School in 1978 and went into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1999. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Core. He attended the University of Akron and Graduated in 1986 with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, University of California Irvine with MD Degree, Graduated in 1995 University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, Residency Anesthesia, and Perioperative Care in 1999. Greg enjoyed traveling the world and enjoyed being with his long time high school friends and visiting his family in Ohio. In addition to his father, Greg is survived by his wife, Nalin (Narinnok) McGovern; daughter, Miranda Quinn; sisters, Kelly (Chester) Slabaugh, Karla (Cary) Marsh; brother, Kevin (Michele) McGovern; nephews, Allen and Alex Slabaugh, Seth, Logan, Jared and Trent Marsh. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 A.M., November 19, 2011, at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
