George J. Harig

George J. Harig, age 84 of Massillon, died Sunday evening, April 1, 2007 at Affinity Medical Center-Doctor’s Campus. He was born on February 24, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the son of the late George and Stella (Brindle) Harig. He was a Massillon resident for most of his life. He retired after 30 years of service from Lorin Andrews Middle School. He was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Houmard and his brother, Myron Harig. He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Whitmer) Harig, whom he married on June 19, 1943, his children and their spouses, Sharon K. (Frank) Schmidt of Beach Island, SC, Terry L. (Linda) Harig of Missouri, Kathleen S. (Ralph) Moore of Massillon and Vicki L. (Mark) Weinsheimer of Massillon, 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of George J. Harig will take place on Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Pastors, James Dittmar and Daniel Alexoff officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service from 3-4 P.M. Cremation will follow.
