Floyd K. ‘Red’ Laird age 82 of Massillon passed away Friday August 1, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born June 11, 1926 in Smithville, WV to the late Samuel & Cora (Campbell) Laird and moved to Massillon in 1954. He was employed by Republic Steel and retired from Washington Steel in 1989. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Floyd was a man remembered for his sense of humor and his kind ways. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela ‘Penny’ Laird in 1986. He is survived by his wife Mackey (McCullough) Laird with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; a daughter and son in law, Karen & Thomas Russell, a son and daughter in law, Robert & Lisa Laird all of Massillon; a sister and brother in law, Betty & Paul Eddy of Parkersburg, WV. and a special family friend, Larry McCauley. There are four grandchildren: Shannon Russell, Sam Russell, Mason Laird and Madison Laird. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a golfing buddy, Roy McCarty. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon; the Rev. Dale Calloway will officiate. Interment will be in Smithville, WV.
