Evelyn J Stalnaker

Evelyn J. Stalnaker, age 98, of Uniontown, passed away on January 09, 2021. She was born in Akron, Ohio on November 30, 1922 to the late Ellis and Freda (Abraham) Shaheen. She was a 1940 graduate of South High School. She married Richard Guy Stalnaker on February 13, 1945 and they shared 57 years together until his passing in 2002. During World War II contributed to the war effort as a “Rosie the Riveter” by riveting tail sections on bombers at the Goodyear Hanger and in time met her husband there. Evelyn was a homemaker and she was devoted to taking care of her family. She enjoyed writing poetry, ice skating, roller skating and later bowling. In the eyes of her family she was a “Saint” and took meticulous care of her family and home. She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Richard (Sharon) Stalnaker, Jeanne Lippe, Robert (Nubia) Stalnaker and Mary Lou (Douglas) Emmerich; 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; her brother Fred (Ann) Shaheen and her sister Lucille Thomann and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her sisters Marie Sparrow, Josephine Genet, Mary Giordano, and Rose Sadd. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 11:00a.m. until 1:00 P.M. We will travel in procession to Holy Cross Cemetery - 100 East Waterloo Road in Akron for the committal service. The family would like to thank the staff at Jackson Ridge for Evelyn’s exceptional care over the last 4 years.
