Eva M. Christie

Eva M. Christie, 83, beloved mother and Sito (grandmother), went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Affinity Medical Center – Massillon Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 20, 1924, in Massillon to the late Samuel and Nora (Arbaji) Davis. Eva had worked for Republic Steel as a secretary, but her most fulfilling job was being a mom and homemaker. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s events, cooking and music. Eva was strong in her faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Howard Christie, who passed away on April 11, 2007; brothers, Joseph, Albert and Robert Davis. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Perry A. Christie of Denver, CO, Sylvia A. & Keith Wilton of Jackson Twp., Craig G. & Holly Christie of Mansfield, OH, Janet L. & Michael Huffman of Massillon, Gary S. Christie of Massillon, Tina M. Boerner of Jackson Twp., Nadine K. Christie and her fiancé, John Salvaterra of Massillon and Brenda J. & Rick Hamit of Massillon, and 8 grandchildren; Spencer, Morgan, Cooper & Elliott Christie, Bruce, Todd & Jennifer Hamit and Sean Huffman; sisters, Martha Aowad, Rita Frohman and Louise Arner all of Massillon, and her dog Cinci, who was a special friend to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Gretchko, celebrant. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
