Ernest J. "Ernie" Leatherberry, 88, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at The Danbury Retirement Community in North Canton. He was born on February 14, 1924 in Augusta, Ohio and was the son of the late Elmer and Belle (Witherspoon) Leatherberry. Ernie was a self-educated man and a celebrated veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army under General Patton. He supported his family through his many skills and business endeavors. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Lou Leatherberry with whom he shared 36 years of marriage, his son Michael Leatherberry, his brothers, Dean and Robert Leatherberry and his sister Velma Locke. Ernie is survived by his children and their spouses, Linda and Dale Oberlin, Cheryl Leatherberry, Richard and Stacy Leatherberry and Kenneth and Kim Leatherberry, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his sister-in-law Esther Leatherberry. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday at 4:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
