Edward A. Hendon, 67, of Massillon, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 22, 1946 to the late Josephine Leisen. Ed was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. Following graduation he served honorably in the United States Marine Reserves. Ed worked many years as an auto mechanic at Remlinger Oldsmobile & Cadillac before going into business for himself at Ed Hendon's Auto Service, Inc. He later served the community with Ed Hendon's Daily Car Rental & Sales. Ed was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed the outdoors & camping. He lived by the saying, "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime." Therefore, Ed taught his loving grandchildren the joy of fishing. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Linda (Smith) Hendon whom he married on February 28, 1970; his children and their spouses, Lisa (Drew) Markley, Scott (Tina) Hendon, and Kevin (Cheryl) Harris; his grandchildren, Kristin, Courtney, Elena, Alexis, A.J., Lindsay and Averie; his great grandson, Hunter; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen (Charles) Huth; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Krista Shaw and all the staff from Crossroads Hospice, as well as the nursing staff from Affinity Medical Center second floor, and Dr. Noman Rafique and staff for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Dr. Roger Alber will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and from 10-11:00 A.M. prior to the service on Wednesday.
