Dortha M. Sampson

Dortha M. Sampson, 72 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Dortha was born on May 8, 1943 in Morgantown, WV the daughter of the late Opie and Nora (Stollins) Conley. She lived here in Massillon most of her life and was a 1961 Washington High School graduate. Dortha retired from Crown Cork & Seal in 2006. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dortha was a very faithful member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Sampson in 1975, her grandson, Justin Peters and her brothers James Daryl and Delmar Conley; and her sister Linda Lou Estep. She is survived by her children Mitch Sampson, Jannet (Michael) Friedman, and Tammy Peters; her grandchildren, Chad Riley, Brent McClain, Mitchell Jr. and Ryan Sampson, Johnny Kennedy, Jessie Peters, and Julian Sampson; her great grandchildren, Sarah, Taylor, Macie, Paige, Journey, and Jayda; her sisters, Carol Sue Leonard and Dara Diane Mani; and her brother Doyle Sherwood. A Celebration of Dortha's life will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12-1 p.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Massillon Baptist Temple.
