Dorothy M. Peters

Dorothy M. Peters, 84, of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was born on August 13, 1933 in Massillon to the late Raymond and Alice (Gibbs) Mattox. Dorothy married Richard Peters on October 9, 1951. They shared 52 loving years together before his passing in 2004. Dorothy formerly worked for Ecko and Perry Rubber where she had over 10 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, listening to country music and spending time on the farm that she shared with her husband, Richard. Dorothy and Richard were also in a band together, known as Dick Peters and the Decker Brothers. She will be deeply missed by her sons Richard (Deborah), Robert (Anna), Ron (Cindy) and daughter Rhonda (John) Henderson; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Judy (Sam) Haiduc, Jean Sampsel and Tommy (Debbie) Mattox. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her brother Raymond Mattox, sister Jenny Warner and infant brother. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
