Dorothy M. Chovan, age 89 of Navarre, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Altercare of Navarre. Dorothy was born on January 29, 1923 in Massillon the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Allman) Hershberger. Dorothy was a WWII United States Navy (Waves) veteran. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. She was an avid traveler and visited 48 of the 50 states. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Chovan in 2009 and her sister Irene Kay and her brother Jack Hershberger. She is survived by her daughter Deborah A. Roby of Massillon; her grandchildren, Ryan (M.J.) Roby of Germantown, MD and Erin and Kara Roby both of Massillon; her great-grandchild, Ethan Roby and her great-grandson Desmond Roby due at the end of July; her sister Evelyn Bush of Brewster and her brothers Mike (Judy) Hershberger of Jackson Twp. and Jim (Carole) Hershberger of Jacksonville, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Barbara Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Cebula will be Officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 P.M. at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
