Doris Evelyn Heck

Doris Evelyn Heck, 94, of Jackson Township, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013. Doris was born on January 7, 1919 in Canton, the daughter of the late George and Mathilde (Derby) Petersen. Doris was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Diano Supply Cement Company for 30 years as their office manager where she was accepted as family. Doris was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She grew up in a Danish house hold and valued the Danish traditions. Doris will be remembered for her lifetime love and devotion to her family. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Heck in 1997; her siblings, Raymond Petersen, Dorothy Arnold, Ralph Petersen, Sr., Esther Fry, Betty Seccombe, and Jane Kiefer; her nephews, George and Neil Petersen; and her nieces, Nancy Oberlin, and Bonnie Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces and nephews, Carol Blakeway, Lois (John) Swanson, Sue Byer, Ralph and Rick Petersen, Greg (Patty) Kiefer, and Kim (Sylvia) Kiefer; and numerous great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of The Inn at University Village and Great Lakes Hospice for their loving and compassionate care for their Aunt Doris. A service to celebrate Doris's life will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Gary Proietti will be officiating. Her final resting place will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour before the service.
