Charles Yoder, 98, of Massillon, Ohio passed away on January 12, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1926, Canton, Ohio.
Charles was a proud Navy veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War. While serving, he married the love of his life, Ruth. Charles worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid walker, he frequented the Sippo Valley Trail where he cared for blue birds in the birdhouses he had built. Charles loved the Massillon Tigers, and lived to see Massillon win the Division II State Championship.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Harry and Anna Yoder; and daughter, Barbara (Sheldon) Traeger.
Charles is survived by his wife of 77 years, Ruth Marie (Balzer) Yoder; children, Edward (Carol) Yoder, Linda (Paul) Shanor, Jennifer (Michael) Hallett and Traci (James) Ely; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, brothers, Thomas Yoder, Christopher Yoder and Kenneth Yoder.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, January 21, 2024 and from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. His Funeral Ceremony will be held Monday at 12:00 pm with Pastor Matthew Coutcher officiating. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Advantage Hospice for their loving care of Charles.
Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
