Cathy Tish'Chara Prowell - Ursery

Cathy Tish’Chara Prowell-Ursery passed on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Cathy was born on March 11, 1972, in Massillon, Ohio. Cathy graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1990. She was a graduate of Kentucky State University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration in 1996. During her time at Kentucky State University, Cathy was a dedicated member of the Mighty Marching Thorobreds. She played the baritone and was instrumental in creating many of the marching band dance routines. Cathy also choreographed and danced during half time at basketball games. While in college, Cathy was also initiated into the Alpha Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in the spring of 1994; number 16 of 21 “Deep Cover” line sisters. Cathy was vastly creative, a lover of the arts; especially music and poetry. She was a budding artist with a desire to share her talents with the world. Intelligent, quick-witted, humorous and kind-hearted is how family and friends will always remember her. Her laughter was genuine, contagious and undeniably her own. Her laughter and sense of humor will be cherished and missed. Cathy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, at an early age. She was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church (Indianapolis, IN). Preceded was she in death by her mother, Cathy Yvonne Prowell-Ursery. Her loving family: father, Robert L. Ursery, Jr.; sisters, Robin L Elaiho (Eseosa Elaiho), Debi L Ursery, and Yolanda D Ursery; aunt, Sylvia Prowell-Johnson; nephew, Evan Elaiho; niece, Nadia Elaiho; dog, Midnight and a host of cousins, family and close friends survive Cathy. On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, OH, will hold the Homegoing Celebration. The viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m. There will be an Omega Omega service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Those unable to attend the Homegoing Celebration may go to www.paquelet.com at 11 a.m. and click on Facebook Live Streaming in Cathy’s obituary. Arrangements are by Paquelet Funeral Home 100 Wales Road NE, Massillon, OH 44646. Graveside committal service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery.
