Avery C. Calhoun

Avery C. Calhoun, age 99 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley. Avery was born on November 29, 1911 in Mount Pleasant, OH the son of the late Andy and Mari Anna (Terry) Calhoun. Avery worked at the Massillon State Hospital for 20 years and then started his own company, Calhoun Builders. He attended Massillon Baptist Church for many years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois M. Calhoun in 1994 and 10 siblings. He is survived by his children, R. Wayne (Linda) Calhoun and A. Kenneth Calhoun; his grandchildren, Sandra Dee (William I.) Ertle, Tammie Kamphus and Vickie Calhoun; his great-grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Aaron Darr, Bridget Tan, Brooke and Lynn Ertle and Brandon Davis; his 6 great-great grandchildren and his sister, Lucille Pitz all of Massillon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
